Went back today and we had a very nice time and the staff was friendly and the food was great! I didn't take you up on your offer for a comp'd meal in your message because I just don't believe in that. Your staff treated us very well today and we enjoyed our meals on the patio. Thank you!

It was my first visit, and I have to say I was thoroughly impressed. My friends and I were heading to a concert at The Independent and decided to stop here for dinner beforehand. Snagging a table was easy, and the staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Our waiter recommended the Meat and Three with catfish, and I'm so glad I took his advice! I paired it with mac & cheese, collard greens, and a cream biscuit, and for dessert, we shared an order of beignets. Everything was absolutely delicious and perfectly seasoned, but the standout for me was the catfish. I'll definitely be back!

I ordered take out here and boy was it some delicious soul food. The shrimp and grits are so flavorful but also creamy. The collard greens were decent. The crab beignets were really good especially since I've never had savory beignets before. Definitely recommend!

Take out for dinner review only. Wow. The mashed potatoes were incredible, almost as good as my mom's special Thanksgiving potatoes. This is high praise that I've never had with restaurant potatoes. The meatloaf was juicy and just a tad spicy with a delicious gravy. Would absolutely eat again. The Mac and cheese was solid, better than from a box or a freezer but not quite as good as my mom's. Overall this food stood up to my mom's comfort food level of deliciousness. I'll be back!

Three gets Five! This is a five star fried chicken spot. There is a reason they have been serving SF for so long. The fried chicken is the star of the show. The seasoning is a flavor blast, it's perfectly crispy, the meat is juicy and tender. It's one of the best fried chicken that I have had in SF. The biscuit is so incredibly delicious. It's so flaky, pillowy, and buttery. It could be the best biscuit I've ever had. The meatloaf was tasty, but I didn't die for it. The chicken sandwich was good, but I would try the other dishes over it. Overall, love this spot! It's a definite keeper in my Yelp collection.

Stopped in for brunch on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised to grab a table at 10:30 AM! I saw a line forming as we were on our way out at 12. I had one of their specials, which was the corn succotash (a mix of bell peppers, corn and Lima beans) Benedict with a side of hash (cubed potatoes). SO good! I'm not usually a poached egg person, but I adored their hollandaise sauce and the texture of the crisp corn succotash underneath! The biscuit tied everything together, which was super buttery and flavorful, especially with the runny egg. So moral of the story is... look at the specials board? Beignets were dense and sweet from powdered sugar on top - I would try a flavored one next time... it was a lot of dough, especially with just having eaten the biscuits.

Brenda's is absolutely amazing!! I have been to their other location once, but this experience was ever better! I went with a group of 6 people on a Sunday for brunch around 12:30 and we were sat right away (which was a huge surprise considering brunch in SF can be hard to find with a big group). I ordered the Andouille Benedict special, and it was perfect! The hollandaise sauce was to die for, the biscuits were flakey and buttery, the sausage not too spicy. I got the grits as my side and I will go back just for those. They are super buttery, creamy, and it's the perfect serving size. We also ordered the crawfish beignets to share. They are very large so easy to share with a big party. The sauce is very flavorful and it's unique to have the option of a savory beignet. You can also get a trio to try all the flavors. Overall, I highly recommend visiting for a great southern food meal! I know I will be back again soon!

Always liked Brenda's on Polk street, but not found of going to that location. So some friends wanted soul food and we hit up Brenda's Meat and Three, which allows you to pick a meat and then 3 side dishes. All that food for about $25 before tax/tip/drinks and other fees. All in all, 5 adults for around $160 these days seems like a great deal. So we each got a different meat - fried catfish, meatloaf, fried chicken, bbq ribs, and fried pork chop. The winners were definitely the catfish and the chicken. Meatloaf was good, but seemed a much smaller portion compared to all the other meats. Bbq ribs were okay and the smothered pork chop was ok (gravy was just meh). As for sides: Mac and cheese - ok Cheesy grits - awesome Heirloom tomatoes - yummy Fried okra - good Corn bread - good Jambalaya - meh Garlic spinach - ok Sweet potato fries - good Watermelon sweet tea - awesome! Miss me some sweet fruit tea! They were decently full when we walked in, but they made space for us in the patio in the back, which is heated, but they can sometimes forget about you back there.

My boyfriend and I were visiting from Houston when a local told us to check out Brenda's because we were in search of some good soul food. I am so glad he recommended this gem of a place. Food: We ordered a variety of items. * We started with the flight of beignets which came with a crawfish beignet, apple, chocolate, and a plain one. I was not a big fan of either of them. My boyfriend really enjoyed the chocolate one. *Shrimp hush puppies with the creole remoulade sauce were absolutely delicious. *Red Beans and rice were really good. I didn't care for the texture of the sausage but that is just a personal preference. *Shrimp Po-Boys was sooooo good. The shrimp are a great size and perfectly fried. I love the French bread that they use and the Po-Boy is perfectly dressed with creole remoulade, lettuce, and tomatoes. You get a choice of fries, Cole slaw, or a green salad. I had the fries and my boyfriend had the sweet potato fries. They both were really good and crispy on the outside but still soft and fluffy on the inside. Service: The service was great. We were immediately greeted by the bartender. Our server was very nice and made sure to check on us periodically. Ambiance: We elected to sit outside on their patio and it was nice and quaint back there. If you are in the area you definitely have to check them out. They are doing cajun/creole food right.

Yum yum yum yummmmmm- this food is great comfort, homestyle food- just gives you that satisfied feeling once eating, loved every bite. Went for brunch on a saturday and was lucky to get seated- would recommend getting a reservation in advance if planning ahead as it can get a little busy during peak times. We tried a variety of things- the portion sizes were big and perfect for sharing: the stuffed johnnycakes, fried chicken eggs benedict and cream biscuits with sausage gravy- as its hearty food you do get full pretty fast, but everything is rich in flavor and tastes great, particularly the johnnycakes and sauces/gravy are delicious. Great fresh biscuits also. Service was quick and the servers were very friendly- nice bustling restaurant. We were so full we didn't get a chance to try the beignets so will definitely be back for those!
